Joshua Walker receives honor of OrthoVirginia Student Achiever Award
George Mason's Men's Cross Country runner Josh Walker has been awarded The OrthoVirginia Student Achiever Award. OrthoVirginia is the proud sponsor of our Student Achiever Award which recognizes 10 student-athletes for not only their athletic accomplishments, but also how they perform in the classroom and in service to our community.
Joshua is a sophomore from Purcellville, Va., who is majoring in Criminology Law & Society with a double minor in Forensic Psychology and Kinesiology.
He has been recognized as a Peter N. Sterns Provost Scholar Athlete, the highest academic award for student-athletes at George Mason University. Joshua made the Dean's list for four straight semesters and is a two-time recipient of the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll.?Joshua is currently ranked 10th in the Steeplechase on Mason's All-Time Outdoor Performance list.
Joshua's performance beyond the track and classroom has also been outstanding, serving as the A10 representative for the Student-Athlete Advisor Council (SAAC)and serving a second term on the university's Athletic Council.
When he is not supporting the Mason community he is actively helping to plan and organize local food drives in his hometown of Purcellville, Virginia.
OrthoVirginia Student Achiever Definition:
The OrthoVirginia Student Achiever Award has been put into place to recognize outstanding student-athletes not just for their athletic performances. The student-athlete can be recognized for anything that they have done that exceptional outside their playing field… whether it be community service, leadership on campus, consistent performance in the classroom, incredible attitude, recovering from a long injury, improvement on the field, etc.
