Gerry Connolly, a seasoned U.S. Congressman representing Virginia’s 11th District since 2009, has voiced critical observations via social media about recent developments in government policy and societal issues. Connolly, who replaced Tom Davis in 2009 and previously served on the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, addresses concerns regarding Social Security operations, data privacy, and gun violence in his latest tweets.

On April 17, 2025, Connolly commented on the then-President's decision regarding Social Security procedures. He criticized that "Trump is already forcing people to visit Social Security offices in person at the same time as he's firing large numbers of employees. Now, he's forcing the agency to needlessly process tens of thousands of additional applications for SSNs. It is a recipe for chaos and delays."

Later the same day, Connolly expressed his concerns about data privacy and Social Security management, pointing fingers at Elon Musk. He urged an investigation: "Elon Musk has his hands on your data and is messing around with your Social Security benefits. What could go wrong with that? We've obtained new information from whistleblower reports. The Inspector General needs to investigate right now."

On April 18, 2025, Connolly addressed the issue of gun violence in the U.S. He lamented the occurrence of another campus tragedy just after marking Virginia Tech's 18-year tribute, tweeting: "Just one day after we honored those we lost at Virginia Tech 18 years ago, tragedy struck another campus in America. Enough of this madness. Enough thoughts and prayers. It is long past time for real action to end gun violence in this country." Connolly, born in Boston and currently residing in Fairfax, has been an advocate for policy change and governmental accountability throughout his tenure.

Gerry Connolly graduated from Maryknoll Seminary in 1971, and at 73, continues to actively engage in legislative responsibilities and the well-being of his constituents.
