Gerry Connolly, a U.S. Congressman representing Virginia's 11th District, has continued his focus on government accountability and oversight through a series of social media posts. Congressman Connolly, who has served in the U.S. Congress since 2009, has previously held a position on the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors and graduated from Maryknoll Seminary.

On April 15, 2025, Connolly suggested that both former President Donald Trump and entrepreneur Elon Musk were attempting to undermine the functionality of U.S. government institutions. He stated that "Donald Trump and Elon Musk are trying to break your government beyond repair. Now, students are paying the price.” His post is accessible online here.

A day later, on April 16, 2025, Rep. Connolly, in collaboration with Rep. Emily Randall, announced via social media that they had "sent a letter opening an investigation into Elon Musk’s conflicts of interest at the Department of Transportation.” This announcement can be reviewed here.

Further, on the same day, Rep. Connolly highlighted ongoing concerns with Musk’s activities in another tweet, noting that "Elon Musk has been noticeably quiet as Donald Trump plunges our economy into chaos and openly defies court orders." He added, "But @OversightDems have not been quiet. We've been laying out a multi-pronged investigation into Elon Musk’s clear conflicts of interest across the government." The full statement is available for viewing here.

Gerry Connolly is currently serving in the U.S. Congress, representing Virginia’s 11th district, continuing his long-standing involvement in public service.
