Felony Hit and Run

City of Fairfax issued the following announcement on Feb. 1

City of Fairfax Police charged a subject in connection with a felony Hit and Run which occurred at 6:19 AM on January 30, 2022 in the 9600 block of Main Street. 

Investigation revealed that while officers were providing traffic control for a structure fire, a subject placed their vehicle in reverse and began travelling eastbound in the westbound lanes of Main Street.  The suspect’s vehicle struck a marked City of Fairfax Police vehicle which had its emergency lights activated.  As a result of the impact, the police vehicle struck an officer who was standing nearby. The suspect then left the area without identifying themselves before they were later involved in a motor vehicle crash in Fairfax County.  With the assistance of the Fairfax County Police Department the driver was taken into custody. The officer sustained non-life threatening injuries but required medical attention.

Omar Zamora Jr., 20, of 3243 Wayne Road, Falls Church was charged with felony Hit and Run (46.2-894) and held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center on a $3,000 unsecured bond.
