Fairfax City and the Local Energy Alliance Program (LEAP) invite Fairfax City homeowners to explore Thermalize Virginia — a new program that, through June 30, helps residents learn how to transition to all-electric homes.
All-electric homes can reduce utility costs and increase home heating and cooling efficiency, as well as improve indoor air quality and reduce emissions. Through LEAP’s Thermalize Virginia program, homeowners could transition to all-electric heating and cooling appliances.
City homeowners would work with Thermalize Virginia to understand their electrification and efficiency options, connect them with vetted contractors to get work done, and — where possible — access and negotiate rebates and discounts.
Thermalize Virginia guides homeowners through the process, and LEAP serves as a trusted nonprofit partner in making the switch to an all-electric home understandable, transparent, and easy.
Among the benefits of an all-electric home are:
- Health — All-electric homes have higher indoor air quality.
- Safety — All-electric homes do not have oil and gas, which lowers combustion risk.
- Comfort — The efficiency assessment and upgrades eliminate drafts and ensure even comfortable inside temperatures.
- Climate — Electrification has a lower environmental impact and helps meet climate goalsE.
- Cost — Savings may not be immediate (due to changing electric rates and your particular house) — but oil and gas costs are increasing at a much higher rate than electricity. Additionally, this program will evaluate insulation and sealing needs, as well as heating/cooling equipment sizes for your home's efficiency.
