City of Fairfax issued the following announcement on Sept. 24
This week, the federal government recommended a booster shot of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for people in certain populations and those who are in high risk occupational and/or institutional settings.
Beginning soon, booster doses will be available for eligible people in Fairfax County from pharmacies, medical providers, hospitals and the Fairfax County Health Department.
The Fairfax Health District is waiting on specific federal and state implementation guidance prior to offering booster doses to residents.

- People 50-64 with underlying medical conditions.
- People 18-49 who have underlying medical conditions based on individual benefit and risk.
- People 18-64 who work in higher risk occupational or institutional settings, based on individual benefit and risk.
