CITY OF FAIRFAX: Ratcliffe Park Tree Sculpture Critters Have Names!

Sculpture

City Of Fairfax issued the following announcement on Jun. 3.

The old sycamore tree at Ratcliffe Park continues to be an important part of Fairfax City. Thanks to a creative approach by the City of Fairfax Commission on the Arts, park visitors will see the tree in in a new way: as a tree sculpture.

This enchanting sculpture features six new park residents — an owl, a squirrel, two raccoons, a fox, and a bear. They needed names, however, and you did just that. You suggested various names, then voted on the finalists.

Here are the names you chose:

  • Fairfox the Fox
  • Honeycomb the Bear
  • Nutmeg the Squirrel
  • Ratcliffe the Raccoon
  • Rocky the Raccoon
  • Whoo-dini the Owl
Thanks to all who participated in the process.

Check out the video, below, to watch these amazing creatures come to life.
