Rep. Gerry Connolly, a U.S. Congressman representing Virginia's 11th district since 2009, has recently shared his views and activities through a series of tweets. Connolly, who succeeded Tom Davis in Congress and previously served on the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, has been vocal about various issues.

On March 10, 2025, Connolly emphasized the importance of independence for Inspectors General (IGs) to carry out their duties without partisan interference. He stated that this autonomy is essential for them to perform their work effectively on behalf of the public. Connolly specifically mentioned the Deputy IG and the OPM Office of IG, urging that their operations should proceed without hindrance. "IGs must have the independence to carry out their mission free from partisan pressure and threat."

Later that day, Connolly expressed satisfaction with the Trump Administration's decision to lift a freeze on payments to the National Endowment for Democracy (NED). He had previously advocated for this action so that NED could continue its mission of promoting democracy worldwide. Connolly noted his relief upon learning that NED received its funding. "Last week, I pushed the Trump Administration to lift the freeze on NED’s payments."

On March 11, 2025, Connolly thanked participants in his recent telephone town hall meeting—the 40th he has conducted since taking office. He appreciated engaging with constituents by answering questions and addressing concerns during these sessions. "Thank you to everyone who attended last night’s telephone town hall — my 40th since coming to Congress!"
