He criticized the Executive Branch by saying it lacks authority to withhold congressionally appropriated funds and called upon Secretary Rubio to act accordingly.
The following day, March 7, 2025, Connolly voiced concerns about decision-making within the government. He remarked that "This is what happens when an unelected billionaire and his roving gaggle of 20 year olds are calling the shots." He further criticized their understanding of governmental operations and highlighted their impact as detrimental.
