2023-24 School Year: What was most represented ethnicity in Fairfax County districts?

White students comprised the largest ethnic group in Fairfax County districts during the 2023-24 school year, according to reports from the Virginia Department of Education.

Of the 180,970 students attending Fairfax County district schools, 36.1% were white. Hispanic made up the second largest ethnic group, comprising 28.7% of the student population.

In the previous school year, white students were also the most common group in Fairfax County districts, representing 36.6% of the student body.

In the 2023-24 school year, the total number of students enrolled in the county increased by 0.5% compared to the previous year.

The main offices of all districts mentioned in the story are located in cities associated with Fairfax County.

As of November 2023, according to Public School Review, in the 2023-24 school year, Virginia public schools saw an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 1:14, which is better than the national average of 1:15 in public schools.
