Gerry Connolly, a U.S. Congressman representing Virginia's 11th district, recently shared his views on social media regarding statements made by Donald Trump and Elon Musk. His comments were posted on February 4, 2025.

In a tweet posted at 01:42 UTC, Connolly criticized the remarks of Trump and Musk who referred to USAID as a "criminal organization." He highlighted the significant role of USAID as one of the largest providers of food aid and healthcare globally, emphasizing its impact in saving millions of lives. Connolly added a pointed remark about Trump's ability to identify criminal organizations given his status as a convicted felon. "Trump and Elon Musk call USAID a criminal organization... You know, for a convicted felon Donald Trump apparently isn't very good at spotting criminal organizations."

Later that day, at 15:28 UTC, Connolly expressed concern over what he described as an attempt by Trump and Musk to undermine the federal government. He suggested that their actions were leading the country towards a constitutional crisis. Connolly also mentioned that the Oversight Democrats are expanding their investigation into what he termed an "illegal power grab." "Donald Trump and Elon Musk are taking a wrecking ball to the federal government... @OversightDems are expanding our investigation into their illegal power grab."

A subsequent tweet from Connolly at 18:22 UTC included only a link without additional commentary or context.
