Representative Gerry Connolly, who has served in the U.S. Congress representing Virginia's 11th district since 2009, shared his views on several pressing issues through a series of tweets on January 28, 2025. The tweets addressed topics ranging from Holocaust remembrance to federal funding concerns.
In a tweet posted on January 28, Connolly acknowledged Holocaust Remembrance Day, stating: "On #HolocaustRemembranceDay, we honor all those killed or brutalized in the Holocaust. In their memory, we pledge to fight against antisemitism and bigotry — today and always."
Later that day, Connolly expressed concern over what he described as an "unlawful federal funding freeze" initiated by former President Trump. He tweeted: "Trump's unlawful federal funding freeze is causing mass confusion and panic across the country. Critical services are in limbo and there is no clarity from the White House or congressional Republicans." He urged Speaker Johnson and Leader John Thune to take action.
In another tweet on January 28, Connolly criticized the White House for its handling of access to Medicaid and other essential services. He stated that the administration was "unsure" about the consequences of their order affecting these services. He described it as "an unmitigated disaster for tens of millions of Americans," calling for immediate reversal by President Biden.
