Jeffrey K. Shapiro Appointed to Fairfax County Electoral Board

Jeffrey K. Shapiro was recently appointed and sworn in by the Fairfax Circuit Court as a member of the Fairfax County Electoral Board for a three-year term that begins on Jan. 1. He replaces Bettina Lawton, whose term will end on Dec. 31.

In each county and city in Virginia, a three-member Electoral Board is responsible for the proper and orderly conduct of all elections held in their locality. The two other members of the Fairfax County Electoral Board are Christopher P. Henzel and Katherine K. Hanley.

Shapiro is a practicing lawyer in Washington D.C., focused on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s regulation of medical devices. He has also served in the Office of Legal Counsel in the U.S. Department of Justice. He is a graduate of Brown University and Harvard Law School.

Shapiro and his family have lived in Fairfax County for 14 years. In recent years, he has begun contributing to the Fairfax County electoral system, serving as an election officer and regularly attending Electoral Board meetings.
