George Mason University Women's Head Soccer Coach Manya Puppione has added Dominic Rutan as a volunteer assistant coach for the Patriots women's soccer program.
"We are excited to round out our women's soccer staff with such a quality coach," said Puppione. "Dominic will be key in our video analysis, tactical breakdown of training sessions and analyzing our performance in games, as his knowledge of the game is very high. His international connections add another layer of depth to what he can bring to our program. He has already hit the ground running with us this preseason and has fit in perfectly with our culture."
The German native currently works with Loudoun Soccer Club coaching youth teams and assisting multiple teams in their ECNL program.
Prior to coaching collegiately, Rutan began his coaching career with high school programs. He was named the inaugural varsity head coach (2020-21) of the Lightridge High School boys soccer program. Two members of his former coaching staff went on to earn their own varsity head coach positions in high school programs and others have continued to enjoy distinguished careers coaching youth soccer.
Rutan held the role of assistant coach (2017-19) with the Stone Bridge High School girls' soccer program. His efforts aided the varsity team in having one of the most successful seasons in recent program history, highlighted by Potomac District and Region 5C Championships and a semi-final appearance in the VHSL 5A State Championship.
Rutan graduated from James Madison University in 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts in History and in 2016 with a Master of Arts in Teaching. He holds a UEFA B License with the Deutscher Fußball-Bund, National C Coaching License with the United States Soccer Federation, and a Premier Diploma with United Soccer Coaches.
