Cost of college went up for all students at Columbia College

Tuition and fees rose 2.5 percent for 2018-19 at Columbia College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Virginia students paid $9,700 to attend the two-year private for-profit institution this year – $240 more than the $9,460 charged for 2017-18.

Data shows 48 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 119 students received grants or scholarships totaling $604,507 and 10 students took out student loans totaling more than $38,467.

Including all undergraduates (358), 200 students used grants or scholarships totaling $783,150, and 21 students took out $81,859 in federal student loans.
