4.1% of citizens unemployed in Fairfax County in 2021

Fairfax County recorded an unemployment rate of 4.1% among residents aged 16 and 65 years old in 2021. That’s 26,526 people out of the 1,146,825 living in Fairfax County at the time, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The unemployment rate in Fairfax County has increased compared to the 4% registered in 2020.

The percentage of people unemployed in Fairfax County was less than the statewide unemployment rate of 4.5%.

Of the 621,819 people who had a job during that time, 11,763 were employed in the Armed Forces and 610,056 belonged to the civilian labor force.
