George Mason University women's lacrosse head coach Kara Mupo announced that a third transfer student-athlete has joined the Patriot roster this fall.
Makayla Hutchinson, sister of junior Melanie Hutchinson, will trade in the Blue & White of Central Connecticut State University for the Green & Gold at Mason as a defender.
A native of Merrimack, N.H., Hutchinson was an All-State honoree in lacrosse at Merrimack High School.
The defender started all 14 games her senior year and appeared in all but two games in her final two seasons with the Blue Devils. In her final season, she collected 19 ground balls with four caused turnovers and three draw controls.
"We are so excited to welcome yet another Hutchinson to Mason Nation this year!" said Mupo. "Makayla Hutchinson, sister of our current junior midfielder, Melanie Hutchinson, will provide both experience and leadership to our defensive unit for this upcoming season as well as a strong presence in the classroom and community. We are excited to see her impact throughout the course of this 2022-2023 year!"
