Mason Nation Sets New Record on 2022 Giving Day

99

Mason Athletics reached new heights on its sixth annual Giving Day on May 5 by eclipsing its donor goal and setting a new benchmark for dollars raised.

Patriot Club donors (561) contributed $409,424, nearly double the previous record, to ensure the success of Patriots' student-athletes and enhance their experience on campus.

That's nearly double the dollar amount from 2021, as Mason Athletics had 565 donors and raised $205,246 on last year's Giving Day.

Alumni-athletes Dan and Patty Wotring have again generously donated $10,000 to Mason Athletics to sponsor the overall giving challenge. On Giving Day specifically, Mason sports competed for up to $2,500 in additional funds for the following categories:

  • Most Donations on Giving Day ($1,000 Team Award)
    • Winner: Wrestling with 209 donors
  • Largest Sport-Specific Gift on Giving Day ($500 Team Award)
    • Winners: Golf and Wrestling (tie)
  • First Two Teams To Reach Donor Goal ($500 to each team)
    • Winners: Men's Basketball & Softball
Overall, 10 of Mason's programs achieved their Giving Day donor goals. For a complete look at the Giving Day standings click here: https://advancement.gmu.edu/s/1564/GID2/16/interior-1col.aspx?sid=1564&gid=2&pgid=5034
