JumpStart2NOVA offers tuition-free summer college courses to high school seniors who are considering attending NOVA, and who will be graduating from a public, private, or home school in spring 2022.
JumpStart2NOVA is for students residing in the City of Alexandria, Arlington County, City of Falls Church, Fairfax City, Fairfax County, Loudoun County, City of Manassas, City of Manassas Park, or Prince William County.
Online summer session begins on May 31, 2022 and ends on August 8, 2022. A completed application to JumpStart2NOVA is due by 5PM on April 29, 2022.
Twelve three-credit courses are available, including History of Art Appreciation I, Intro to Communications, Principles of Macroeconomics, College Composition I, History of Western Civilizations II, Precalculus I, Music in Society, Ethics, US Government and Politics, Intro to Study of Religion, Principles of Psychology, and Quantitative Reasoning. Some courses require students to pay for instructional materials, and some do not.
The courses are online and asynchronous starting on May 31 and ending on Aug. 8.
The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. on April 29. Applicants will be required to upload a high school transcript and any qualifying test scores if they do not have a 3.0 grade point average.
What You Need to Know about JumpStart2NOVA!
- JumpStart2NOVA courses are tuition free!
- Textbook and other course material purchases may be required.
- You may take a maximum of four credits through JumpStart2NOVA: one 3-credit course, plus NOVA’s 1-credit Student Development course (SDV 100).
- A current high school transcript is required to complete your JumpStart2NOVA application.
- JumpStart2NOVA courses are designed to fulfill NOVA degree requirements and transfer well to other colleges and universities.
- You are enrolling in an online course. Students who take courses through NOVA Online must have access to a computer and reliable internet, and may be required to participate in classes or take exams with their camera on. Remotely proctored exams also require the use of a lockdown web browser which may need to be downloaded to the student’s computer.
- Under section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), disability services are available to you if you are currently enrolled, have a documented disability that substantially limits you in one or more of life's major activities, and are otherwise academically qualified. To use services in a NOVA class, you must apply online at NOVA's Accommodations and Accessibility Services page.
- By enrolling in a JumpStart2NOVA class, you are starting or continuing an official college transcript. You will be required to share this transcript with every college or university to which you may later apply.
- JumpStart2NOVA enrollment is limited, and individual courses may be further limited based on qualified instructor availability. You will be notified if your choice is not available.
