Inova Mount Vernon Hospital issued the following announcement on March 1

Inova Blood Donor Services and I.M.P. will host a community blood drive at The Anthem at The District Wharf in Washington, DC, on Wednesday, March 23. This blood drive will mark the first time Inova Blood Donor Services and I.M.P. have teamed up to help patients in the community.

“We are always building out a calendar of events for new and returning donors in Washington, DC. The idea came up to focus on venues and companies that are community-minded and focused on helping others,” said Kevin Giambi, Marketing Manager, Inova Blood Donor Services. “We were thrilled by the response from I.M.P., which not only offered us space but was vested in the success of the blood drive from day one.”

“We’re living in a time that requires us all to help keep our families, friends and communities safe, whether that’s by donating blood, getting vaccinated or masking,” said I.M.P.’s Chief Operating Officer Donna Westmoreland. “As a gathering place we’re encouraging all of that, and we’re grateful to open our doors to those who are literally giving of themselves by donating blood.”

“The need for blood is always present, and we’re thankful for partners in the community that understand the importance of blood drives and helping patients in need,” said Terri Craddock, Senior Director, Inova Blood Donor Services. “Not to mention how much fun it will be for our donors to donate in the most beautiful music venue in Washington, DC.”

All donors will receive a limited edition t-shirt. To donate blood, donors can make an appointment by visiting inovablood.org/anthem.
