Rainbow Six dominates, League falls twice

32

Northern Virginia Community College Athletic Department issued the following announcement on Feb. 23

The Northern Virginia Community College Esports Rainbow Six Siege team needed a little extra time to defeat Iowa Western 2-0 (7-1, 8-6), while the League of Legends team dropped a pair of 2-0 decisions to High Point and Montclair State on Tuesday evening.

The Nighthawks Rainbow Six team dominated the first battle 7-1 behind Alp (awildpanther) Pirge's 11 kill shots. However, before NOVA won the first battle IWCC tied the game at one all before the Nighthawks dominated the next seven.

During second round action both teams traded rounds before the Reivers took the 6-4 advantage late in the game. The Nighthawks tied the game at six all to force overtime where they were able to win the contest.

League of Legends struggled in their contests against High Point and Montclair State, as head coach Jordan Whitaker said the Nighthawks foes were in-sync and executed their game plans.

"Robert (aznstrife) Nguyen Jr. continues to be a key leader and high performer for NOVA, giving us the best chance to find opportunities to win every night they compete," Whitaker said. "En (AtinaEN) Muan, meanwhile, has turned into a big catalyst for playmaking, as he has been able to make his presence felt all around the map, creating pressure and making big plays."
