Rep. Gerry Connolly, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Virginia’s 11th district, frequently shares his thoughts and experiences on social media. In a selection of recent posts, he extends well-wishes to his constituents, shares a pointed opinion on staffing, and offers respects to a significant religious leader.

On April 20, 2025, Rep. Connolly expressed festive greetings with a tweet stating, “A very Happy Easter to all celebrating in VA-11 and beyond!” Joining many in festivities, Connolly’s tweet was a message of goodwill to people celebrating Easter.

Following this, on April 21, 2025, he posted a brief but explicit tweet, suggesting a personnel change with the words “Fire him.” The tweet included a link, signaling a direct call for action, though the context or intended target within the link remains unspecified.

Later that same day, Connolly reflected on the legacy of a religious figure, Pope Francis, who passed away. His tweet stated, “Pope Francis was a remarkable man of compassion, humility, and grace. He led the church like he led his life, with unwavering faith and care for those who need it most. May he rest in peace.” The remarks honor the Pope for his compassionate leadership and dedication to the needy.

Gerry Connolly, 73, has been serving in the U.S. Congress since 2009, after replacing Tom Davis. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, he currently resides in Fairfax and has been a member of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors before his congressional role. He graduated from Maryknoll Seminary in 1971 with a BA.
