Rep. Gerry Connolly, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Virginia’s 11th district, has recently taken to social media to express concerns and celebrate achievements. His recent tweets reflect both his vigilance over national security issues and his support for educational initiatives.

On February 4, 2025, Rep. Connolly voiced apprehensions regarding Elon Musk’s acquisition of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM). In a tweet posted at 18:22 UTC, he stated, “Elon Musk’s hostile takeover of OPM is putting sensitive government data at risk of a major security breach.” He further indicated that he and Rep. Shontel Brown are seeking answers concerning this development.

Later that day, at 20:39 UTC, Rep. Connolly congratulated the winners of the Congressional App Challenge through another tweet. He remarked on their ingenuity by saying, “Congratulations to this year’s Congressional App Challenge winners! These outstanding students have developed innovative apps that address real-world challenges and provide meaningful benefits to communities.”

In an additional post made at nearly the same time, Connolly highlighted a specific achievement from the competition: “3rd Place: Advik Atyam (Fairfax HS) – ScamCops A cybersecurity tool designed to detect and combat online scams, protecting individuals from fraud.” This acknowledgment emphasizes the practical applications these young developers have contributed.
