Gerry Connolly, a U.S. Congressman representing Virginia’s 11th district, recently took to social media to express his concerns over several pressing issues. His tweets focused on the Republican budget proposal and the Trump Administration’s actions regarding federal employees.

On March 6, 2025, Connolly criticized the Republican budget plan in a tweet stating that “CBO is nonpartisan. They call balls and strikes. And they’ve confirmed Republicans are lying to you.” He further claimed that the GOP budget would necessitate cuts to Medicaid or Medicare to facilitate tax reductions for billionaires.

Later that day, Connolly tweeted about his efforts with fellow House Democrats against the Trump Administration’s employment practices. He stated that “141 @HouseDemocrats joined me to tell the Trump Administration to put an end to this madness.” He urged for reinstatement of unlawfully terminated employees and called for halting further reductions in force.

In another tweet posted at the same time, Connolly described the impact of these employment decisions as detrimental not only to civil servants but also to all Americans dependent on government services. He remarked that “The unlawful, indiscriminate firing of thousands of federal employees is a disaster in the making.”
