Gerry Connolly, a U.S. Congressman representing Virginia’s 11th district, has been vocal on several issues via his Twitter account. Connolly, who succeeded Tom Davis in 2009 and previously served on the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, is addressing various concerns ranging from government oversight to healthcare.

On March 18, 2025, Connolly tweeted about Elon Musk’s influence on data privacy and government operations. He stated: “Elon Musk has rooted through your data and taken a chainsaw to your government for long enough. It’s time to drag DOGE out of the shadows.” Connolly expressed his intention to seek answers alongside Representative Raskin.

Later that day, Connolly addressed healthcare concerns with a focus on Medicaid coverage. He highlighted the potential consequences of proposed Republican policies: “Medicaid covers 80 million Americans, from newborn babies to seniors in nursing homes. If Republicans force millions of Americans off Medicaid, people will die, rural hospitals will close, and families will be left bankrupt.” He affirmed the House Democrats’ commitment to preserving Medicaid.

In another tweet from March 18th, Connolly raised questions about the Postmaster General’s actions regarding DOGE and its impact on the Postal Service: “Congress and the American people need to know the extent to which the Postmaster General has enabled DOGE to apply its chainsaw approach to America’s most trusted institution, the Postal Service.”
