Rep. Gerry Connolly, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Virginia’s 11th district, has recently shared his perspectives on various issues through social media posts. His comments focus on former President Donald Trump’s actions and their implications for taxpayers, national security concerns, and potential impacts on Social Security.

On March 24, 2025, Rep. Connolly expressed his disapproval of pardons issued by Donald Trump for individuals involved in the January 6 insurrection. He stated that “Donald Trump’s pardons for January 6 criminals aren’t just a moral and ethical outrage.” Connolly emphasized that these pardons financially burden taxpayers with costs related to the damage and cleanup from the insurrection.

Later that day, Connolly addressed potential national security risks in another post. He questioned the exposure of sensitive information under Trump’s administration, asking “What else may have been exposed? Nuclear codes? Detailed war plans with other adversaries?” He urged congressional action to address these concerns.

On March 25, 2025, Connolly criticized Trump’s approach to Social Security. He accused Trump of attempting to undermine the program to justify benefit cuts. Connolly argued that “Donald Trump is trying to break Social Security to pave the way for cuts to your hard-earned benefits.” He condemned Republicans who do not oppose these actions as contributing to unnecessary suffering among constituents.
