Rep. Gerry Connolly, a U.S. Congressman representing Virginia’s 11th district, has recently shared his perspectives on several pressing issues via social media. Connolly has been vocal about economic and geopolitical matters, expressing criticism towards certain public figures.

On February 19, 2025, Connolly commented on the state of the economy and rising egg prices. He criticized former President Donald Trump and entrepreneur Elon Musk for exacerbating the situation: “The clowns are running the circus, and you are paying the price — literally. With egg prices through the roof, Donald Trump and Elon Musk are actively making the problem worse.”

Later that day, Connolly addressed international affairs concerning Russia and Ukraine. He accused President Trump of spreading disinformation by using rhetoric favorable to Russian President Vladimir Putin: “Russia, not Ukraine, started this war. President Zelenskyy and the people of Ukraine have been fearlessly fighting to protect their democracy for almost three years. Shame on President Trump for using Putin’s talking points to fuel disinformation.”

On February 20, 2025, Connolly continued his critique of Trump’s stance on Russia-Ukraine relations. He emphasized that Vladimir Putin is the true authoritarian figure in this conflict: “President Trump is unmoored. The dictator in all of this is not Zelenskyy. It’s Vladimir Putin. This is a man who has his political opponents jailed and pushed out of hotel windows. Donald Trump’s parroting of Putin’s talking points is shameful and dangerous.”
