A day later, on April 11, 2025, Connolly highlighted health-related issues, specifically the increase in esophageal cancer cases in the United States. He expressed gratitude to Rep. Mike Turner for supporting his efforts to raise awareness. Connolly stated, “Esophageal cancer is on the rise, touching the lives of tens of thousands of Americans – including mine. I am so thankful to my good friend @RepMikeTurner for joining me to introduce a resolution marking April as Esophageal Cancer Awareness Month.”
By April 12, 2025, the Congressman had turned his attention towards the controversy over book bans at the Naval Academy Library. Connolly criticized the decision of Pete Hegseth, emphasizing apparent thematic issues, writing, “Pete Hegseth banned books about Holocaust victims from the Naval Academy Library, but Mein Kampf is still on the shelves. He banned I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, but books that claim Black people are genetically inferior get to stay. Are we picking up on a theme here?”
