George Mason women’s lacrosse to host Howard in midweek match

George Mason women’s lacrosse will face Howard University at George Mason Stadium in Fairfax on March 10. The game is scheduled for 4 p.m. and will be available via live stats and on ESPN+.

The matchup marks the fourth meeting between the two teams, with George Mason leading the series 3-0. In their last encounter in February 2025, George Mason defeated Howard by a score of 19-7.

Last season, George Mason finished with a record of 7-10 overall and went 2-8 in Atlantic 10 Conference play. The team lost its season opener to Robert Morris in overtime, with a final score of 11-10. Freshman Delaney Stup scored four goals in her collegiate debut. Returning top scorers include Kate Anders (40 goals), Daniella Jimenez (28 goals), and Kaitlyn Bestick (19 goals). Goalkeeper Regan Bestick also returns after starting all 17 games last season and recording 144 saves. Anders is tied for second in program history for most points in a single game with nine points.

This season, the Patriots have added ten new players to their roster, including freshmen Kate Carpenter, Zuri Crumpton, Gracie Mullen, Addison Bechler, Ava Clark, Emma Carey, Olivia Perry, Kata Buttrey, Delaney Stup, and sophomore Matye Riley.

Howard completed its previous season with an overall record of 1-14 and went 1-8 in Northeast Conference play. The Bison were tied for eighth place in the NEC preseason poll for this year. Top returning goal scorers for Howard are Leah Croom with seventeen goals and Kyla Newkirk with fourteen goals.

Following the matchup against Howard, George Mason will host Saint Joseph’s for its first home conference game on March 14 at noon.
