George Mason University’s softball team will return to its home field after a five-game road series to host Georgetown University. The game is scheduled for Wednesday, March 4, at the GMU Softball Complex in Fairfax, with first pitch set for 1 p.m. Admission is free.

The matchup will be available for streaming on ESPN+ and can also be followed through live stats online.

Georgetown comes into the game after winning two out of three games against Drexel University, including a 4-3 win in a ten-inning contest. In that game, both teams were tied 2-2 by the end of the third inning. After six scoreless innings, Drexel took the lead in the top of the tenth, but Georgetown responded with two runs in the bottom half to secure victory.

Emily Strittmatter leads Georgetown offensively with a .400 batting average and has accumulated 12 hits, three doubles, one home run, and seven RBIs so far this season. Claire Turner has scored seven runs to lead the team. On the pitching side, Georgetown holds a collective ERA of 3.30. Catherine Larson has been notable with a 1.99 ERA over 24.2 innings pitched and holds a record of two wins without losses along with two shutouts.

George Mason returns home following defeats against nationally ranked Virginia and four losses at the Paladin Invitational tournament. Over these five games, George Mason was outscored by opponents 41-22.

Despite recent setbacks, Logan Pickford had strong performances last week, hitting home runs in consecutive games on February 28—including two in one game versus Winthrop—and achieving a .526 on-base percentage along with a slugging percentage of 1.143 across five games. Pickford recorded seven runs scored, five hits, four RBIs, and stole two bases during this period.
