George Mason University sophomore Alexander Lillie was named the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA) Offensive Player of the Week, according to a March 9 announcement from the league. This marks Lillie’s first Offensive Player of the Week honor and his fourth overall weekly conference award in his career.

The recognition comes after Lillie’s performance during George Mason’s recent road trip in North Carolina, where the Patriots secured a win against Queens (N.C.) and faced a loss to Belmont Abbey. Lillie led his team with a .619 hitting percentage over the weekend, recorded a service ace, and had the second-most kills on the team with 15. He played all seven sets and led in blocks per set (0.71) as well as total blocks (5), which included four block assists and one solo block in the third set against Belmont Abbey.

Currently, Lillie leads George Mason in several defensive categories: blocks per set (1.06), total blocks (54.0), and solo blocks (11). Within the EIVA, he ranks second for blocks per set at 1.06 and is hitting .412 this season.

Looking ahead, George Mason will return home to play two matches at the Recreation Athletics Complex this week. The Patriots are scheduled to face Barton College on Friday, March 13 at 6 p.m., followed by a game against FDU on Sunday at 2 p.m., concluding their home-and-home series with the Knights.

Lillie’s continued strong performance highlights his importance to George Mason’s lineup as they approach these upcoming matches.
